Inserting Bible Passages and Songs
Press Insert Content in the editor toolbar to put a Bible passage or a song from Chapel Screen's own library at the cursor. The picker has one search field: a reference typed into it ("Psalm 23", "John 3:16-18 NIV") is recognised as you type and shown first, so Enter inserts it; below it the search lists songs — the built-in catalogue and the songs you and your teams have added — and Bible chapters whose words match. Choose an entry and it is inserted as ordinary content you can edit.
- A passage is laid out with the reference as a heading, verse numbers in superscript, each verse a presentation point and the full reference, with its translation, as the slide's footer. Without a translation in the reference, the passage comes in the default of the team the presentation is shared with (when it is shared with exactly one), else your own, else the King James Version.
- A song is laid out with its title on a slide of its own, whose footer names the song and its copyright notice, and the lyrics following verse by verse, each line a presentation point, so the words are shown alone.
Searching for Bible Passages
The same search field serves Insert Content here and Add Slides on the event page. There are three ways to reach a passage:
- Type a reference. A book, a chapter and, if you want, verses: "Psalm 23" for the whole chapter, "John 3:16", "John 3:16-18" for a run of verses, "John 3:16,18" for two, "Matthew 4:23-5:4" across chapters. Books may be abbreviated ("Jn", "1 Cor", "Ps"), with or without a space before the chapter. The reference is recognised as you type and shown as the first result; Enter takes it.
- Type it in another language. A book may be named as any of Chapel Screen's translations names it: "Juan 3:16", "1 Jean 3,16", "João 3.16", "約翰福音 3:16", "Иоанна 3:16", "إنجيل يوحنا 3:16". Case and accents do not matter, a period between chapter and verse is read as the colon, and a French reference is read the French way ("Jean 3,16-18"). A reference typed in another language is taken from that language's translation: the one you ticked under Other translations in search, else your default if it is in that language, else the language's main translation.
- Search by words. Anything that is not a reference ("shepherd", "牧者", "الرب") finds the Bible chapters whose text contains it, listed by book and chapter with the translation in brackets ("Juan 3 (RV1909)"), beside the songs that match. Choosing a chapter inserts the whole chapter.
Which translations are searched. Results come from your default translation and from each translation ticked under Other translations in search (a team's own choice applies on its event pages and in the editor of a presentation shared with that team alone). A book name typed in a language none of those is in adds that language's translation for the query. To take a passage from any other translation, write its code after the reference: "John 3:16 WEB", "Salmos 23 NBV", "Johannes 3:16 SCH1951". The codes are listed beside each translation in your profile. A reference to a book a translation does not have (the Old Testament in a New Testament edition) is not offered: the search says so instead.
A song that needs a licence is added only while the presentation is edited in the context of a team whose church is on the paid plan: the editor opened from that team's pages, its address under the team's. Every song is still listed; where one cannot be added here it carries a small Paid plan sparkle, and choosing it opens a dialog instead. When the presentation is shared with a paid church's team you belong to, the dialog is Add it in team with Open in team, which opens the same presentation under that team so you can add it there; otherwise it shows what the paid plan adds. What is already on the slides is never checked or taken away, whatever the plan.
